Henry Babcock autograph book, 1859-1881.

Signatures, poems, prose, artwork and small photographs of friends of Hartford, Connecticut, resident Henry Babcock. Some signatures indicate the students were from Hartford Public High School while others are from W.H. Seminary. Lydia Huntley (later Lydia Sigourney) signed the volume in 1862, and Henry's children put their names in the album in 1881.

Lydia Huntley Sigourney (born September 1, 1791, Norwich, Connecticut–died June 10, 1865, Hartford, Connecticut), poet, also known as the “Sweet Singer of Hartford", was the only daughter of a gardener. She attended private school with the assistance of her father’s employer, and founded a Hartford school for girls in 1814.
